2-1-1 Lake County, Ohio  is a community collaborative supported by your United Way, your County Commissioners, and your ADAMHS Board.

You can dial 2-1-1 to get information, or to seek help in a crisis. They are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Call 2-1-1 from any landline telephone and talk with a trained information & referral specialist who will help you.  If you are homeless, call 2-1-1 to make a reservation for a bed at Lake County's only emergency shelter, Project Hope for the Homeless.

BOSCOC Region 5

The Lake County Continuum of Care is included with80 other Ohio counties in the Ohio Balance of State Continuum of Care (BOSCOC).  BOSCOC is organized into 18 regions, with Lake County participating in the BOSCOC Region 5 along with Ashtabula, Geauga, Portage and Trumbull counties.  

Within Region 5, we are working together to establish policies and procedures designed to ensure consistency between counties and the agencies within those counties that serve the homeless.  Below is a link to our region's website where you will find information on homeless funding and our established policy and procedures.

Advocate Advisors -- Representative Payee Services
As a Representative Payee, Advocate Advisors provides a valuable service to individuals with mental and physical disabilities who require help managing the benefits they receive from the government. Representative Payee duties include:
  • Paying for food, shelter and personal needs
  • Monitoring personal accounts for resource limitations and continued benefit eligibility
  • Reporting monthly earned income for those who are employed
  • Filing required reports to the Social Security Administration
  • Advocating for beneficiaries to protect, maintain and reinstate benefits through the appeal process

The Cleveland Foodbank Help Center Opens

The Cleveland Foodbank Help Center is officially open.  They have 4 new full time staff dedicated to answering the phones, completing applications, and helping community members access a variety of nutrition based and other programs.  The Help Center is able to direct anyone in our 6 county (Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Richland, and Ashland) service territory to the pantry, hot meal, or produce distribution site that is closest to their home, through a quick phone call.

They are also able to complete applications OVER THE PHONE for Benefits including Food Assistance (Food Stamps), Cash Assistance (Welfare), Medical, Utility, and other programs available through the Ohio Benefit Bank.

Citizens Circle

The Lake County Citizen's Circle, sponsored by the local Parole Authority, began seeing newly released ex-convicts officially on September 1, 2011.  The Circle is an accountability group made up of Lake County citizens who, in their role as trained professionals, can lend guidance and support to persons who are re-entering the community from prison.  As a voluntary program, ex-offenders who enroll can receive coaching and support to help them take positive steps to address their needs in the following areas:

  • Employment
  • Education
  • Family/Marital Relationships
  • Social Interactions
  • Substance Abuse
  • Community Functioning
  • Personal/Emotional Orientation
  • Attitude

 

The Citizen’s Circle helps parolees create action plans that capitalize on each individual’s strengths and skills and offers ongoing mentoring that emphasizes personal accountability and supports positive outcomes. The Circle meets the first Thursday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lifeline, Inc., 54 S. State St. #309, Painesville, OH 44077.  Walk-ins are welcome.
